Perspective The ARTery asked 5th grade teacher Michael Pfeiffer and parent Vicki Petrick to give us their view on the impact of dancing classrooms. Michael Pfieffer is a 5th grade teacher at Joslyn Elementary. He has been a Dancing Classrooms participating teacher for three years. My school has had the privilege of participating in the Dancing Classroom program for the past three years. The experience for the students was priceless. Not only are the students introduced to ballroom and Latin style dancing, but they are also taught many valuable “life lessons”. “Respect for others” is just one example of what the program reinforces. |

I did the math and through the fall 2009 season, Dancing Classrooms has reached about 3000 5th and 8th grade students! That’s 6000 feet learning to Tango, Swing, and Fox Trot, 3000 palms offered with the polite request, “May I have this dance, please?” and 3000 respectful replies, “With pleasure!” Most importantly, that’s 3000 ladies and gentlemen waltzing through life armed with necessary life skills. |
